My Philosophy

Your skin is your largest organ and plays an extraordinary array of functions, making it the ultimate multitasker of the human body.

Healthy skin is really powerful and provides a huge number of full-body benefits (way more than society realises);

  • It is key for how we look – whilst there are many short-term beauty fixes (makeup, fillers, cosmetic treatment etc), healthy skin is the only path to truly naturally beautiful skin
But its role certainly does not stop there…
  • It is also critical for how we feel – our self-confidence, self-esteem, mental health, and wellbeing. When you are happy with your skin, you in turn feel more relaxed, less stressed, more rested, more resilient, physically stronger and more in control.
  • And healthy skin is key for our physical health – it is our body’s barrier to the outside world. protecting us from bacteria, viruses, UV radiation, toxins. allergens, and harmful infections.

However, keeping our skin healthy can feel like trial and error, with so much contradictory advice and misinformation.

The sad truth is that despite all the time and investment spent on different skin care products, few of us have skin we truly love.

Your skin deserves better.
Much better.

To change this, we need to think differently and challenge how the skin care industry thinks about and treats skin;

The narrow view that skin care is just about beauty vs understanding the huge number of full body benefits and how critical skin health also is for our emotional wellbeing and physical health.

The one size fits all approach to skin care that ignores the reality that everyone’s skin is different and therefore skin care must be personalised to your skin’s individual needs.

The simplistic view that the answer to great skin health is either all natural or all scientific/ medical. vs. the reality that both are critical and therefore we must utilise a balanced approach that combines the best of both.

The focus on only treating skin topically vs an integrated 360 approach that recognises skin doesn’t exist in isolation but is connected to the rest of the body, and thus we must care for skin both on the outside and from within.

My Values

Everything I do at Your Skin Story embodies my 6 key values.

Clinical Excellence

A focus on continuous learning and a relentless pursuit in delivering the very best and highest standard of care possible – excellence across every facet and step of clinical care

Too often patients are treated as a condition or as a number or in a one size fits all way. You deserve kindness and time, so you are heard and understood. A key value is therefore really understanding your story and demonstrating empathy

Compassionate and caring with a focus on the underlying connection between patient and doctor, and a recognition that this connection and trust is a fundamental basis for successful patient outcomes.

Openness & Respect

Open, candid, and honest with all patients, sharing fully what I know and learn. Treating all patients with dignity and respect with a focus on forming true clinician-patient partnerships

Whilst continually evaluating and at times partnering with skin-care brands, remaining fully independent and free to recommend whatever products, treatments and care I deem to be most effective for each individual patient so I can design the right treatment plan, with complete objectivity and always put patients first.

People’s lives can be transformed when they feel in control of their health and wellbeing and are able to shape their personalised care to fit with what matters to them. Hence a key value is empowering patients to take control through education, shared decision making and building confidence to take control and achieve lasting results.

My Story

I was born in London and now live and practice clinically in Oxford, as well as offering online expert services to patients across the UK and worldwide.

Outside of work, I am mum to Daniel and Isla, as well our crazy cavapoo, Ziggy.

Diverse Experiences & Training

I have been practicing for 19 years, in both the NHS and private practice, and in dentistry, facial aesthetics and advanced skin care.

I have professional training in Skin Science, Science of Nutrition, Cosmetic Chemistry, Dentistry and a Post Grad in Facial Aesthetic Medicine.

My belief in the critical importance of a personalised, balanced and integrated approach to skin care has been influenced by my Western Medical and Scientific training, professional experience, and clinical practice, as well as the Eastern approach to health that was a key part of my upbringing as my Grandfather was a Doctor of Eastern Medicine.

These two very different worlds have given me a unique insight into the synergy between the scientific, medical and natural aspects of skin treatment, and the importance of treating not only the symptoms but also identifying and treating the root cause of the issue, so we can achieve real and lasting results.

The Most Advanced Care

I fundamentally believe in combining the best of science, medicine, technology, and nature, and integrate the latest cutting-edge research, learning, evidence and knowledge, to provide the most advanced care for my patients

Aside from my professional expertise, I am described by my patients as dedicated, empathetic, and compassionate, and I’m committed to achieving measurable results in the least invasive way possible and in harmony with the biology of your skin.

My Personal Skin Story

My passion and determination to achieve lasting results for my patients stems from my own experience of not living in the skin I wanted, let alone skin I loved – I struggled with the emotional pain and frustration of acne for many years – through my teens and into my early 30s (and at times still do), and like so many others, have tried many different treatments that just didn’t seem to work or didn’t last.

I came to understand that my skin was not functioning in isolation to the rest of my body – and simply trying countless skin treatments was not enough. I needed to understand what was really happening and use this learning to develop an approach that was personalised to my skin’s unique DNA/ needs and integrated to support my skin in a balanced way on the outside and from within.

Once I put the pieces of the puzzle together, I was able to commence the journey of healing my acne & transforming the health & natural beauty of my skin.

My personal skin story means I completely understand how important healthy skin is and the impact is has on how you look and feel, as well as your physical health. I want all my patients to achieve significant and lasting results, and I know it’s within your reach to do so.

A bit about me

My Inspiration….

It isn’t just one person – it comes from family, friends and sometimes people that only touch my life for a brief time.
But individually they demonstrate courage, kindness, and the ability to drive forward despite adversity and this spurs me on and reminds me the world and people can be truly beautiful.

My favourite place on earth…

Near water – whether the sea, a lake or river. By the beach in Sitges, south of Barcelona is amazing. I was also fortunate to go the Canadian Rockies on my honeymoon and the lakes there are breath-taking. I would just sit and gaze at the blue-green water for hours. Closer to home, a stretch of the River Thames, near our home in Oxford is one of my favourite places.

I’m at my happiest…

When I’m with my family, sitting around the dinner table having a meal and we get to share what we’ve experienced that day.
Nothing is quite like family – they make you laugh, cry, scream but all the while feeling utterly safe and content.

I’m fascinated by…

The human body. I devour information on how the human body functions and what affects it – be it the latest scientific research or age-old eastern medicine – I can’t absorb it fast enough. I would do this morning till night every day if I could! (by water of course!)

I hate…

Not getting a good night’s sleep! I’m a bit of a grumpy bear when I don’t.

The best advice I’ve ever been given…

2 bits of advice stand-out

Forgiveness is freedom – holding on to negative feelings just makes you feel worse

Play to your strengths – I know boring right? But we are all so unique with our own talents – it took me a long time to accept you can’t be good at everything but can be great at one or two things

I’m an advocate for…

Staying true to yourself no matter what. It’s not always easy and there will be plenty of times you feel like you need to be someone else. But being you is the only way to live and be happy. ‘Be yourself. Everyone else is already taken’
